Workshop

Senegal is a country that continues to evolve, where new buildings replace the old ones, regarded as useless and outdated. However, there's a place where you can still breath colonial times, where everything is quite and historic buildings  resist the economic boost. This place is island of Gorée. Our firm, togheter with students of the Institut Polytechnique Panafricain of Dakar, had the pleasure to take part of rediscovery and study of the building that was the symbol of colonial political power on island:  'Le Relais de l'Espadon'.

DECEMBER 2017 MBAO APTS

Project

Dakar and its hinterland continue to sprawl across the Cap-Vert peninsula in a jumble of villages.  We are in Mbao, there is just new buildings  and costruction sites in progress around us. Everything is still to be determined, the concrete gray  mixes with yellow Dakar sand.  The client ask us to think a building in a still not defined neighborhood.

Our firm lands in Senegal. An adventure  composed of travels, language discoveries and so much work. Partnerships with local firms give us the possibilities to know the traditions of a country  in an intense economic growth. Cultural, artisitc and musical basis spur us to imrove our work and ourselves.

What good is history? Is it important to preserve nature ? The project deals with  different threats: crumbling and abandoned buildings, and vegetable infections. A historical fortified farmhouse, inside a regional natural reserve, becames a research centre to study surrounding ecosystem, redeveloping itself and defending the habitat.  A two-fold approach combining preservation and reuse in a architectural and environmental context.

Competition - Kairalooro Sacred architecture

We are in Tanaf, a village in the region of Casamance, south of Senegal where tropical nature  grows thriving and kindness of people astonishes the newcomer. In this part of the country, Christian, Muslim and Animist live peacefully together for centuries  and they need a place that reflecs this social stability. Frusta is a place, not only religous, where villagers can meet, dialogue and have assembly.

Project

The Italian economic boom has changed the face of italian cities  since the 1960's.  This trasformation process affects not only the big cities, but also the small towns and their historic donwtowns. The house, located in the 15th-century town center of Surbo, has been forgotten because of its position at back of courtyard and it preserves mostly  its authenticity.  Let's start the requalification of this historic property!

We are in the middle of summer in Apulia and caper bush has given the ispiration out to create the container for our ideas. Caper are an ancient ingredient, insignificant at first sight but capable of demostrating all its strength through the taste. You either love it or hate it.

AUGUST 2015 DAHER HOUSE

Project

We started working on Daher House project. The client has opted for an ecofriendly arhitecture,  totaly surrended by nature. The  chosen place  is amazing, located in heart of Brazil,  in central plateau characterides.by brazilian savana vegetation. Let nature embrace us.

The owner has figured the whole costruction process as teamwork where part of family and friends can lend a hand and bring new ideas.
